DUMP Teri Lukin from school bd! Bad for taxes/math!!

We are a group of parents with kids in CET and PVC and CHHS who have some great ideas about how to improve our schools’ math program, make it more competitive with all the districts that surround us, improve home values, while keeping costs and taxes down. We have mostly been working quietly behind the scenes, meeting with administrators, teachers, parents, board members and establishing our own free advanced math class after school. We also support any family and teachers aiming for excellence in other academic and athletic disciplines. And we don’t want TERI continuing to waste millions of dollars of  tax money  on unauthorized expenditures that the taxpayers did not approve.

TERI LUKIN has been a disaster for our village, both in terms of wasting tax money and in terms of thwarting academic excellence. She is one of those very nice people in a job that is totally wrong for her:  incredibly, she is Vice President of the school board when she should be stepping down from the board altogether.

In terms of TAXPAYER waste,  she has given 3 million dollars of our money to Honeywell Corporation for a green energy plan that was not approved by our Croton taxpayers. She is keeping the details of this contract secret, refusing to give out the contract to the public so we can take a look and see how our money is being used!  Can you imagine the arrogance of this!!!! Honeywell came to school boards all over Westchester with this proposed  plan, the rest of them turned Honeywell down ! If you want to put this in terms of energy, you can say that in Teri Lukin’s case, it is “lights on, nobody home”. She is definitely not the brightest bulb on the tree, in a position on the school board that demands someone with some brains.

In terms of math education:  Teri has thwarted all efforts to become competitive with the districts that surround us on all borders and implement similar advanced math programs for elementary and middle school. We have an “easy to implement, no added cost”  plan to improve our math in the way that’s being done all around us. Yet, she  tells us that better math in our schools is “elitist”.  How is math, the cornerstone of the American job market , “elitist”?  Clearly she does not have a clue about what is needed in our schools. You can point all day to the handful of Croton H.S. seniors that got into big name colleges this year, but you have to recall that these students went to elementary school and middle school here before Teri deleted the good math programs that once existed in our lower schools because she thought decent math was “elitist” . Our kids who are currently in the lower schools are simply not learning the level of math that is taking place in the school districts that surround us. They will have a harder time competing when they have to go out for college acceptance alongside the students from other districts.  We must get rid of Teri before more damage is done!

Those of you around a few years back when Teri was in charge of Little League remember the same “dumbing down” of the village baseball program at her hands. If Croton was competing with the Southern Westchester leagues, where  competitive excellence is in place, we would be in big trouble. Anyone who is interested in pursuing baseball scholarships for their kids does not find a friend in Teri.

So who should a family vote for? Either of the other two candidates would be a better choice. They are Beth Roth and Nicole Channing.  Both of them seem alot less arrogant and a whole lot brighter! Beth seems open to improving math when we go and talk to the board, tho’ as long as Teri is there advocating mediocrity we can’t get much done. And Nicole has gone down to the board on behalf of improved CET math, and her husband has offered to teach the CET advanced morning fourth grade math program for free (he’s a math genius). This is impressive because their kids don’t even go to the Croton public schools!  Both Nicole and Beth seem much more frugal about spending tax dollars than Ol’  TERI . And Nicole is a Yale lawyer so she’s less likely to be hoodwinked by the corporate smoothie Honeywell than guillable TERI. So go for Beth and Nicole. Afterall, we’re talking about your tax money and your kids’ education. Shouldn’t we vote smart and frugal?

NEXT MONTH: DR.  ED FUHRMAN, SUPERINTENDENT. Is he worth his yearly salary package of $320 K per annum? Or should we get rid of him, and our expensive district office, and combine our district with the academically superior Hen Hud?

JULY issue:  RATE your child’s past teachers!

August issue: CET’s various afterschool programs, are they accesibile and working the way they should or is CET afterschool/aftercare treated like an after thought?
